The Shower Belt is made from beige nylon reinforced plastic covered material, sewn around a soft foam padding. The belt can be wiped dry between patients. Made with a breathable white nylon fabric outer cover. This is to allow any seepage of moisture to fully dry, particularly suitable in humid tropical climates.
The Shower Belt is used on commode chairs, mainly when showering. Place the belt centrally behind the chair and wrap both ends around the frame at the pelvic position on both sides of the chair. The Velcro sections can then be fastened together across the patient’s lap.
If the patient is liable to open the Velcro, use the belt in the opposite way, with the belt across the patient’s lap, wrap around the frame at the pelvic position and fasten the Velcro together behind the chair. On larger patients, it may not be possible to secure the belt on the sides or on one side only.
WARNING – Only use a Safety Belt or Restraint if all other alternatives have been tried. Ensure Restraint Authorisation has been obtained. Restrained patients should be kept under observation, as their behaviour may alter and another restraint may be more appropriate. Restraints are a prescribed item. The wrong restraint or the correct restraint incorrectly fitted can cause injury or death.
Washing: Both items can be hand or machine washed, up to 80°C. Do not tumble dry or wring – air dry only.
